money. I'm not sure that a recession and a high def format war would have worked out for anyone involved. Even with Blu-Ray as the one remaining format, a recession isn't exactly going to help increase adoption.

A recession is defined as two consecutive quarters of negative growth (okay, overall loss)... we have yet to see that happen (at least in the US).

I'm increasingly of the mind that they had at least one Iago in their
corner, keeping them going along a doomed path. And, of course,
the Iago's of this world never bear the full brunt of the losses that
occur...
