Next-generation CDMA modem given OK

The Federal Communications Commission has given its formal approval for Novatel Wireless to sell its next-generation wireless modem that uses Qualcomm's CDMA2000 technology, according to Novatel.

This is the first such modem granted sales approval by the FCC, Novatel said. The Merlin C201 Wireless PC Card Modem supports network speeds up to 153kbps, the target speed for most carriers' next-generation phone networks.
