I love all things Google... but a lot of their satellite images are miserable compared to those over at Microsoft and Yahoo. It's like Google only focuses their quality on larger cities, and give low res blurry images for everywhere else. Hopefully this will even the score a tad bit and Google will get high res images that covers even the smaller places.

So if anyone could inform me I'd be greatful: The story states that the images can have resolution down to 1/2 meter and that the government doesn't want sharper pictures. But, does anyone know how fine the resolution could be or is on government pictures? Just wondering how advanced the technology is or could become. Thanks.
