From nothing to something big!

This is an amazing development from an Asian perspective. I think today, armed with the lessons of the past from around the world, is the better time to bet on e-commerce. I think it is also correct to aim for the SMEs specially in Asia where most businesses are small or medium sized anyway. Indeed, the potential for growth and stability is visible here.

SMEs have always been e-commerce's favorite audience. Surprisingly though, there are few success stories. So it is not surprising to hear about people doubting Alibaba's profitability. But when you're in China, I guess the possibility may be bigger than can be imagined.

If you live in China, or anywhere in Asia for that matter, and you talk in 6 figures USD, you are already talking about something really big. So big that it's enough to insure your lifetime and the lifetime of your next generations to come. If that's not big enough in American standards, that's humongous in Asia.
