Netcom board shrinks

January 2, 1997
Internet service provider Netcom (NETC) locked up its business access service, by inking a deal to resell and install Net security software from Secure Computing (SCUR).

Netcom will offer the company's firewall software, gateways, and encryption software to small and medium-sized businesses as part of its Internet access and hosting services.

Secure sells the BorderWare gateway and BorderWare Firewall Server for Unix and Windows NT operating systems. The gateway software also supports Virtual Private Network (VPN) functions, such as encryption and authentication.

Netcom also offers a security consulting service, priced from $750.
