Neoteris meets Fed's security standard

Neoteris released a new version of its Instant Virtual Extranet security software for access to online applications. The new version meets the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) Number 140-2, the Security Requirements for Cryptographic Modules.

FIPS 140-2 certification, administered by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technologies (NIST) and the Communications Security Establishment (CSE) of the Government of Canada, will let Neoteris sell its wares to federal agencies, and healthcare and financial institutions that follow the federal standards. Neoteris, based in Mountain View, Calif., and founded last year by Netscape founder Jim Clark, last month raised $17.5 million in a third round of funding.
