MySQL names new executives

Open-source database company MySQL named two new executives Monday. Paul Weinstein was named as executive vice president of business development and Clint Smith was named as general counsel. The company also promoted Zack Urlocker, previously executive vice president of marketing, to executive vice president of products.

Weinstein previously was vice president for worldwide business development and alliances at Check Point Software, and Smith was in charge of the legal department for Macromedia, acquired by Adobe in 2005. MySQL just moved to new, more spacious offices in Cupertino.
