MySQL begins certification program

Open-source database company MySQL launched a certification program Wednesday to assure that programmers and others are proficient with the software. Certification programs help pave the way for use of software within established companies that want formal assurance that programmers, administrators or others have expertise.

MySQL announced the program in Hannover, Germany, at the CeBit trade show. Future certification programs are planned for using MySQL in conjunction with other software, such as the PHP software for creating Web pages on the fly, the company said.
