Dell (DELL) has spruced up its Latitude line of notebooks with the addition of a 166-MHz Pentium processor with MMX and enhanced video and audio capabilities.

Dell says the LM M166ST is targeted at mobile professionals who need multimedia capabilities while on the road. With a PCI bus and 128-bit graphics accelerator, the new notebook supports 30 frames-per-second, full-motion MPEG video. The graphics accelerator is on a single chip, which helps prolong battery life by consuming less power than multichip systems.

Other features of the LM M166ST include a 12.1-inch active-matrix screen, 1.4GB hard disk, and 10X CD-ROM drive. The modular bay design allows a user to swap between the CD-ROM drive, a floppy drive, or an additional battery.

Dell says the system is available immediately for $3,499 in the United States.
