U.S. Robotics introduced today two new modems that allow businesses to support ISDN and analog connections simultaneously.
The MP/8 and MP/16 I-Modems are aimed at businesses that are moving to ISDN connections but have to maintain support for analog lines. For instance, telecommuters can dial in to a corporate network through either 33.6-kbps or ISDN modems without having to call separate numbers for each type of service. (Standard modems used with most PCs handle 14.4- to 28.8-kbps connections, which are notably slower.)
The MP/8 modem can accept up to 8 calls when connected to 4 ISDN lines, while the MP/16 can handle 16 through 8 ISDN lines. Both products have fax capability and can be upgraded for flash ROM. The list price for the MP/8 is $6,495, and the MP/8 retails for $10,995.
