Check your math
"M:Metrics research showed that of the 26.7 million people who
accessed news and information on a mobile device in July, 6.1
percent (11.5 million people, most of them males) focused on
sports information."

FYI 6.1 percent of 26.7 million is not 11.5 million. It is 1.6 million.
So your artictle's stat is off by around 10 million, or ~1000 percent.
