Don't worry...Microsoft will screw it up somehow
by March 20, 2006 6:48 AM PST
It seems like this entire "Live" marketing disaster was more
reactionary than anything and I think we're seeing the fruits of that
one. Mary Jo Foley from microsoft-watch.com said this is
another .NET disaster in the making. I tend to agree. They try and
rip off what is working for others such as Yahoo and Google and
then add that extra splash of Microsoft that sends it to its doom.

I'll stick to Craigslist, thank you very much.

craigslist is ugly
by bobbutts March 20, 2006 7:25 AM PST
That has got to be one of the ugliest sites out there. An extreme case of a bad site in the right place at the right time. I don't think microsoft will win this battle though for the reasons mentioned in the article, mainly the vast craigslist userbase.

I especially dislike the list of "sites" that is a mess of cities, regions, and states. You can find "Maine" but not "Massachusetts".. there is "Western Mass" and "Boston" though. And their search feature is only within each "site" and is a not very effective even there.

Craigslist has nothing to worry about
by bobby_brady March 20, 2006 8:02 AM PST
It's simple, and easy to use and is not filled with ads and other junk. Microsoft's site I'm sure will be filled with Flash ads and other crap that make reading difficult.

Microsoft is a bug...
by lifescircle March 20, 2006 9:17 AM PST
There is not one Microsoft product that runs smoothly. But they are like Walmart.. convenience. And now they are simply embedded in everything that it will take a while to come up with a utility to remove the bug that it is.

First, get your hotmail working.. how about that.

Why would anyone want to use Microsoft in lieu of Craigslist? I feel fine posting anonymously on Craigslist. I definitely would not feel comfortable posting on a microsoft community. If they want to compete with e-bay, then compete with e-bay. Craigslist is in a totally different category.

And.. thank you for my microsoft rant :).

Doesnt look too bad

It'll take a lot to build a user base for it, but the system itself doesnt look too bad.

stick with Craigslist. Microsoft has enough fingers in the computing pie and besides they can't be trusted. Greedy companies should never be trusted.

Instead of pointing fingers at MS

Maybe you should look into the US government, which by the way, if you didnt notice, is a corporation with more fingers in more pie's than any other corp out there.
