Microsoft sets holiday Xbox bundle
Microsoft announced on Friday a new holiday Xbox package that essentially gives buyers two free sports games and a trial subscription to the Xbox Live online gaming service. The bundle, available starting Oct. 31, will add Electronic Arts' "NCAA Football 2005" and "Top Spin" tennis game, plus two months of Xbox Live service, for the same $150 Microsoft now charges for the standalone Xbox.
Bundles are a common way for game console makers to boost seasonal sales in between price cuts. Microsoft last trimmed the price of the Xbox in March. Competitor Sony will begin selling a trimmed-down version of its market-leading PlayStation 2 console on Nov. 1.

- Waiting For It To Become $99
- I'll buy an Xbox when they lower their price to $99. I don't think that the $150 price is bad, considering you get 2 games and 2 free months of Xbox Live, but those games that are included with it are not my style and Xbox Live doesn't interest me. So why buy it if I'm not going to use $50 worth of the equipment I'm paying for? Maybe later Xbox....

- $99? Heck gimme teh X-Box 2!
- I may seriously have to consider the X-Box 2 if it comes to market long enough before the PlayStation 3. Right now it looks as if Microsoft will command the lead in the next generation of consoles, and these boxes will be bad to the bone in terms of graphics performance. Price will be a big factor though, I won't pay full desktop PC price for a console, so we'll see what price the toy hits the market at.
