The patch has to be applied to the Exchange Server, not to the desktop, so individuals won't be able to solve the problem on their own. "If you run into this problem, we highly recommend that you contact your Exchange 2000/2003 administrator to make sure they have installed this update," Microsoft said.

Patching Exchange Server means making a change to the software that would use that particular control to use some alternative method, it makes perfect sense since it was Exchange Server which used the control in the first place.

- I have come across this as a user and server administrator. Why should the server guy have to deal with a problem MS created for the user. My solution was simpler - no Vista on corporate computers.
