Microsoft nemesis Monti joins investment bank

Mario Monti

Mario Monti, the former competition commissioner of the European Commission who played an instrumental role in the landmark antitrust judgment against Microsoft, has found a new job. Monti, who left his EC post last year, has now accepted an offer to become international adviser to investment bank Goldman Sachs.

Monti will also sit on Goldman Sach's research advisory council and advise the bank on policy issues relating to Europe and public policy. Also known for his hard line on the merger between AOL and Time Warner, Monti is currently chairman of the board of the Brussels European and Global Economic Laboratory, or Bruegel, and president of the Bocconi University in Milan, where he previously studied.

Jo Best of Silicon.com reported from London.
