Microsoft extends content management line

Microsoft will target midsize businesses with a new version of its Content Management Server this fall, the company said Monday.

A standard edition of Content Management Server 2002 will be designed for companies that are not planning to deploy the document creation and handling application to a large number of people. Microsoft currently sells an enterprise edition of Content Management Server 2002 that is aimed at larger corporations. The software giant said it expects the standard edition will also find interest from partners that build custom applications for midsize businesses that use Microsoft products.
