Microsoft on Thursday said the next version of Virtual PC for the Mac has been pushed back until October because the company is waiting to bundle in Service Pack 2 of Windows XP into the editions of Virtual PC that come with Windows. The move also delays until October the professional edition of Office 2004 for the Mac, which includes Virtual PC. Microsoft had already
delayed Virtual PC, which was originally slated to ship in the first half of this year.
"We are waiting for the release of Windows XP SP2 in order to offer the most recent, most secure version of Windows XP to our Virtual PC for Mac customers ," Microsoft said in a statement. The company said that should Windows XP SP2 be further delayed, Virtual PC would also be pushed back.
