Microsoft boosts mobile services

Microsoft is set to announce on Sunday three new Windows Live services for mobile devices at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona. Live Search on Windows Mobile and Live Search on Java allow people to search for local businesses without any typing and to save information to contacts, map directions or make a call with one click. The mapping uses new Virtual Earth imagery technology, and users can get real-time traffic data for more than 25 U.S. cities. The new Windows Live for mobile services are available in the U.S. and the United Kingdom.

Microsoft also announced Windows Live for Windows Mobile, which bundles Windows Live Mail, Windows Live Messenger, Live Search and Windows Live Spaces, which lets people send photos and videos directly to their blogs from their mobile devices. Microsoft plans to unveil its latest mobile operating system, Windows Mobile 6, at the show.

But can Msoft handle the new earlier Daylight-Savings time?

It seems once again that the DOS based Windows OS can't handle a
change, even after months.

Windows mobile devices depend upon the manufacturers to update the phones so ask them about the updates. This is similar to the multitude of software that relies upon the OS to be updated. Maybe you should check some of the other websites for their workarounds such as Rim/Blackberry which is a manual intervention for their phones <a class="jive-link-external" href="http://www.blackberry.com/select/dst2007/" target="_newWindow">http://www.blackberry.com/select/dst2007/</a>. Or how about Apple who ... ohh yeah they dont have a phone on the market yet.

There is a lot more to worry about then Microsoft, think of all of the embedded electronic chips (security systems, credit card processors, alarm clocks) that cannot be updated or changed and will require manual intervention or system replacement.
