Microsoft: 'Halo 3' nets biggest day in entertainment history

Company also reports that the game's release boosted Xbox 360 sales, which it says nearly tripled.

sales. It sure leaves a bad taste in my mouth to have Microsoft
leveraging their Windows and Office monopolies to sell XBox and
XBox360 at a loss to try to create a new monopoly. It's really hard
to compete against a company that isn't interested in making a
profit.
Are you kidding? You suggesting that Xbox is some kind of hobby for Microsoft. That has got to be the dumbest thing I have read in awhile. Failure to make a profit does not imply a lack of interest in doing so.
"a sad day when Microsoft extends it's monopoly to gaming"
Yeah, that will be sad, imagine if everyone in the world could play against each other on Xbox Live or if killer games like Halo, GOW, Forenza, etc kept coming out. Let's not forget all of the PC games and the platform they run on. Imagine everyone being able to watch movies online, listen to music, chat with thier froends, all from thier gaming machine.
Pretty sad indeed.
It is OK to hate Microsoft but try not to let that influence you to make such knuckle-headed statements.
That said, I am an awfully proud XBOX 360 owner. They've done an AMAZING job with the 360. I simply must tip my hat to MSFT. As an American, I'm darn proud to see us compete against our good friends out in the far East. Keep going XBOX team!!! Give us more experiences like Halo 3, and ignore the naysayers. We gamers love it!!!!!!!!!
And they STILL can't turn a profit! As an American, I'm ashamed that we can't compete. You're not "competing" unless you're making a profit, IMHO.
It'll be a sad day when Microsoft extends its monopoly to gaming and we get the same mediocrity and lack of innovation there that they've shown in every other area in which they do business.
Will they be discounted soon?
Now, if the helmet had a built-in headset or a special eye shield that enhanced the visuals of the game, then I might buy one. Hey, anyone from XBOX out there? That could be cool. =)
- Quite an amazing acheivement.

- I'm very impressed with Microsoft, Bungie, and the success of the XBox 360. I now have two of them, one 1st release, and the other an Elite. I've not had this much fun on any other gaming system. In a way, it's exactly what I've always hoped for in a gaming platform. Other systems were fun, but I always thought "what if they added...", but not so with the Xbox 360. Kudos Microsoft!!!
