MessageLabs to protect against Web pests
MessageLabs in October plans to introduce new Web filtering services, the company's first foray outside of e-mail security. The new services will scan Web traffic for viruses, spyware and adware. Additionally, MessageLabs can filter based on Web addresses, allowing a customer to block access to specific Web sites. To use the services, a customer would route Web traffic through a MessageLabs data center.
MessageLabs has partnered with ScanSafe to offer the new services. MessageLabs holds a minority interest in the London-based company, which also sells the Web filtering services on its own. Pricing for the MessageLabs offering, which is scheduled to be announced on Tuesday, will be detailed at the October launch, a company representative said.
