Mercury names new president and COO

Mercury Interactive said Wednesday that Tony Zingale will take over as the software company's president and chief operating officer. Mercury sells software for deploying software to company networks and keeping track of ongoing performance of business applications.

Zingale, who served on Mercury's board for the past two years, had been president and CEO of Clarify, which was acquired in 1997 by Nortel Networks. In an interview, Zingale said he intends to continue Mercury's growth by expanding its product line and extending its sales channels, including overseas. Zingale said Mercury will continue investing in internal product development and be "opportunistic" about mergers and acquisitions.
