McKesson CEO to join HP board

John Hammergren, chairman and chief executive of health care services company McKesson, has agreed to join Hewlett-Packard's board of directors. Hammergren, 46, is expected to be formally elected to the board later this year, HP said in a statement.

Upon election, Hammergren would become HP's 11th board member and the ninth to come from outside the printer and computer maker. "He has an exceptional track record running one of America's largest companies. His experience in leading a company through various challenges in a very competitive industry will enable him to make a significant contribution to the board," Patricia Dunn, chairman of HP's board, said in a statement.
