- Common sense should have told them if to go with lcd , lcd has been used in laptops for years.

- It is true that LCD is used in laptop for years, but never get past 17", 19" and above LCD monitor are from the last 5 years.

- Based on what? At the time of the decision LCD's were more expensive to make at that size than plasmas. LCD's had vastly inferior performance at the time. LCD's still can't match the performance of plasmas but are really close finally.

(3 Comments)One reason people looking for LCD TV instead of plasma TV set is power consumption. Plasma tv use way more power than crt tube.
LCD's still can not match the color depth of plasma. They can not match the speed of plasma. They definitely can not match the black level of plasma.
