Manugistics to resell Sun products

Sun Microsystems and Manugistics have signed a reseller deal. Manugistics, which builds business applications that use the Java 2 Enterprise Edition standard, will resell Sun's Java System Identity Server and Java System Directory Server as part of the deal. The Sun products are designed to manage user profiles and authentication. The closer ties between the companies should make the technology cheaper for their joint customers, Manugistics said.

The companies, which have cooperated on other sales efforts in the past, plan to offer more details on the deal next week, a Manugistics representative said. Earlier this year, Sun and Manugistics said they had teamed to build business applications for manufacturers in the aerospace and defense, automotive, industrial and medical device industries. The software was aimed at facilitating the exchange of data between business partners.
