Macys.com tries on Amazon deal

Macys.com has dipped further into online waters, agreeing to participate in a cross-promotional deal with Amazon.com. Select Amazon and Macys.com members have received coupons giving them $10 off at Amazon after they purchase $100 or more at Macys.com. The offer is part of corporate incentives promotion Amazon has been running for a few months, Amazon spokeswoman Patty Smith said.

It's the first time Macys.com has partnered with an online-only retailer, said Kent Anderson, president of Macy's Direct. "This is the first (offer) that made sense to us. Amazon's offer was well organized, and they have this well thought out," he said. "We know from research we've done that there is a lot of overlap between our customers and their customers. We felt it was a good test."
