Macromedia on Wednesday plans to update its Web Publishing System for groups whose members post pages to intranets and the Web. Last updated in July, WPS now includes Contribute 3.1 and Contribute Publishing Services 1.1.
New to the update, which Macromedia said it targeted toward the enterprise, is an RSS (Really Simple Syndication) activity feed that notifies subscribers when new pages have been posted or modified. The company said it simplified its user interface for connecting to multiple LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) systems, added a way of posting multiple Microsoft Office documents, integrated WPS with the company's Breeze Web conferencing application, and provided a mechanism for distributing administrative responsibilities.
