Mac OS update corners 'jumping cursors'

Apple Computer late Wednesday released a minor update to its Mac OS X Panther operating system. Version 10.3.8 fixes several bugs, including an issue with automatically restarting after a power outage and a problem in which, on rare occasions, a PowerBook G4 would wake from sleep with a black screen and not respond to keyboard or mouse input.

According to Apple, the software update also improves DVD Player compatibility and performance, in some conditions, and also deals with "jumping cursor" issues that might occur while using one's thumb or the side of one's thumb to navigate on a laptop Mac.

Only on PowerBooks?? HA!
My G4 466MHz Digital Audio occationally wakes up with a black screen and doesn't respond to keyboard or mouse clicks. Putting it back to sleep (pressing power button) and waking it back up usually wakes it up all the way.

Also, my G5 iMac has the jumping cursor problem. My mouse pointer will be in one location and then as I begin to move the mouse the pointer suddenly jumps to a different part of the screen and then starts to respond to the mouse movements. I thought it had something to do with the laser hitting the wood grain in the desk but maybe its this bug.

Jumping cursor with G5 iMac
You wouldn't happen to be using a Logitech MX1000, would
you? If so, I'm pretty sure I can tell you that the problem is
neither with your Mac or the fact that your laser is hitting wood
grain. The problem lies within the mouse hardware. Windows
users are having the same problem.

Jumping cursor
Have two (2) G5's; the 17" widescreen suffers from the "Jumping
Cursor Syndrome" while the 20" does not. Traded keyboards
and the problem was resolved.
