Intercast technology--named as a hybrid of Internet and broadcast--lets viewers using a PC with an Intercast card simultaneously receive Web pages related to the TV program. Intel, which start advertising on MTV this fall, will help develop the cable network's Intercast content for M2, as well as the existing MTV channel.
Viacom, MTV's corporate parent, is a charter member of the Intercast Industry Group, a consortium of technology and entertainment companies promoting Intel's technology. Another charter member, NBC, recently announced that it would produce Intercast coverage of the Olympics this month.
