MTV Networks, which owns cable channels Nickelodeon, MTV, VH1 and Comedy Central, said Wednesday it has expanded its deal with Sprint to provide more mobile Web sites, on-demand video, and live content streams to the carrier's customers. Viacom-owned MTV Networks' programming has already been available to Sprint--specifically video-on-demand from MTV, Country Music Television, Spike TV and Logo--as well as to other mobile carriers. But MTV Networks stressed that the expanded deal makes significantly more of its content available to Sprint than to any other mobile service or content provider.
The expanded partnership means that Sprint will offer 14 live streaming and video-on-demand channels with MTV Networks content. In addition, Sprint customers will have access to some mobile-only content. This will include mobile Web sites from MTV, VH1, and Comedy Central and a mobile video channel from gaming web site GameTrailers.
