Microsoft (MSFT) will post a 60-Minute Intranet Kit on Monday to encourage users to build intranets with its Office 97 application suite and FrontPage 97 HTML authoring tool.

The kit contains a series of templates to give users a head start in creating small intranets. The templates will be arranged according to corporate departments: sales and marketing, finance, human resources, and product development. Once downloaded, the templates can be opened and customized in FrontPage 97. The templates will not work as well with other authoring tools, a Microsoft spokeswoman said.

Related material to step users through the intranet-building process will also appear on the intranet kit site. All materials will also be available free of charge on CD-ROM.
