MIT, Caltech offer low-tech voting advice

Register to vote and use your sample ballot, advises the Caltech-MIT Voting Technology Project, a committee directed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the California Institute of Technology in December 2000 to evaluate the state of reliability and uniformity of U.S. voting systems and establish qualitative guidelines for voting.

The Voting Technology Project issued seven recommendations for people to ensure their votes get counted. Among other tips, they advise people to check to make sure they are registered, a task that can be accomplished on the Internet; to vote between 10 am and 4 pm; to bring a sample ballot; and to double-check choices.
