M-Systems to boost Palm memory

PalmSource and flash memory developer M-Systems announced on Wednesday that they will work together to increase the amount of memory for handhelds and smart phones that use the Palm operating system. M-Systems' will work with Palm OS licensees to make it easier for them to use its flash memory storage technologies in devices. That will decreasing the time that it takes for products to get to market and lower costs, according to M-Systems.

Newark, Calif.-based M-Systems is also joining the Palm OS Ready program, which includes Intel, ATI Technologies, MediaQ, Motorola, Samsung and Texas Instruments. The program allows component providers to work with Palm OS licensees in order to fine-tune their parts to better work in new devices.
