LynuxWorks releases embedded OS

LynuxWorks on Tuesday released an operating system for embedded applications, based on the new version of the core of open-source software Linux.

BlueCat Linux 5.0 is designed to let programmers access new features--such as easier porting to new computers and support for large memory models and microcontrollers--in the Linux 2.6 kernel released last month. The company said it can be used for a range of embedded computing projects, from consumer to military applications. Pricing for the OS starts at $8,449.
