Lycoris offers fonts for Linux

Open-source software maker Lycoris on Tuesday said it has selected a set of 40 fonts from software maker Bitstream for its Linux office suite, ProductivityPak. The suite includes Lycoris Office, a Lycoris PDASync Palm Pilot synchronization tool, and several labels and templates. It runs on Desktop/LX and provides read and write compatibility with Word, Excel and PowerPoint files, plus more than 20 other formats. Pricing was not immediately available.

The company said it believes the open-source community is ready for improvements in typographic design. "The low quality of fonts on Linux operating systems has been a thorn in the side of Linux users for years," Bitstream CEO Anna Chagnon said in a statement.
