Local-search start-up nabs financing

Denver-based Local Matters, a start-up that offers local search listing services to online directory Web sites, said Wednesday that it had closed $20 million in equity financing from Sandler Capital Management. Local Matters said the proceeds of the financing will be used to support corporate development initiatives, including the acquisition of MyAreaGuides.net, an aggregator of local and niche content. AreaGuides.net focuses on content about travel, as well as relocation information and services. Michael Marocco, senior managing director of Sandler Capital, will join the board of directors of Local Matters.

www.dodloo.com is a good place to find things to buy. It's really easy to use, and the selection of products, etc. is pretty good.
