- Its sickening when Families have to adjust their lives like this for a paycheck. Money should not rule the world, its sad to people just trying to survive, instead of living their lives.

- I commuted 200 miles for two years. It was a financial hardship and not done for the paycheck. I was transferred the summer before my daughter's senior year in high school. It would have meant a large disruption in the family's future. My daughter was number one academically in her class. She was courted by Harvard. Translate that into scholarships. She would have recovered far more quickly to a move than her siblings. I found out when we moved the family for my new job at the start of my daughter's sophmore year in college. Was it worth it? My daughter graduated from the University of Minnesota (her choice), worked in the public sector for a time, found a loving husband, attended graduate school, has an MPP from Duke University, and now a son. Now I'm considering the possibility of working in a different state not just because of the current economy, but the promise of a bright job future fizzled at my current location before the economic downturn.
