Linux lab signs up Japan's NTT

The Open Source Development Labs has signed a new Asian partner, Japanese telecommunications company Nippon Telephone and Telegraph. NTT will participate in OSDL's Data Center and Carrier-Grade Linux efforts, which are company-neutral efforts to improve the open-source operating system for use on large servers and telecommunications gear, respectively, OSDL said on Tuesday.

OSDL, a Beaverton, Ore.-based consortium that's taking a stand against SCO Group's legal attack on Linux, has attracted Asian members of late, including Beijing Co-Create Open Source Software and NEC Soft.
