Linux company boasts of revenue surge

MontaVista Software, which sells versions of "embedded" Linux for telecommunications equipment and for consumer electronics devices such as TV sets, doubled revenue from 2001 to 2002, the company said Tuesday. The company didn't say whether it was profitable.

Customers selected MontaVista's software for use in more than 450 designs, the Sunnyvale, Calif.-based start-up said.
