Linksys ships combo Wi-Fi products

Linksys, a maker of wireless-networking gear, has begun shipping its dual-band 802.11g and 802.11a routers and access points. The Dual-Band Wireless A+G Router costs $299, while the A+G Access Point costs $279. Both support wireless transfer rates of up to 54mbps. The company has already been shipping a dual-band wireless networking card for use in notebook PCs.

Cisco recently announced that it would be acquiring Irvine, Calif.-based Linksys in a stock deal valued at $500 million. Linksys was one of the first companies to ship 802.11g-based products, which allowed it to maintain its No. 1 market share position for wireless networking gear, according to retailer sales tracker NPD Intelect.
