LinkStar tool simplifies Web postings

LinkStar Communications this week announced LinkStar Site Launcher, a software program for Windows 95, Windows NT, and Windows 3.1 that simplifies posting Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) pages, graphics, and Java applets to Web sites.

The program is designed to replace file transfer protocol (FTP), which Web publishers typically use to transfer data across a network to a Web server for publishing on the Internet.

LinkStar will also offer a Web site hosting service that will enable LinkStar Site Launcher users to simultaneously publish their content on the LinkStar Web site and notify all of the major Internet search engines, including Lycos and Yahoo, of the new content. The service will cost $9.95 per month for up to 100K of files, $19.95 per month for up to 1MB, and $10 per month for each additional megabyte.

LinkStar Site Launcher will be available for free downloads from the company's Web site in mid-March.
