Lexar Media sells miniSD in Japan

Lexar Media announced Monday that it has begun selling miniSD removable flash memory cards in Japan. The Fremont, Calif.-based company is shipping a 32MB card for $25 and a 64MB for $43. It also plans to release a 128MB miniSD card shortly.

The miniSD format was developed for use in cell phones and other portable consumer electronics devices such as digital cameras, handhelds and digital audio players. The format is 60 percent smaller than the more common Secure Digital format.
