Lenovo names new CIO

China's Lenovo Group named Steven Bandrowczak as its new senior vice president and chief information officer, reporting to company CEO Steve Ward. Bandrowczak, 45, will be responsible for the company's information technology strategy and operations, including network infrastructure, business applications and data security. Before coming to Lenovo, Bandrowczak served as executive vice president and chief information officer at shipping company DHL Worldwide. Prior to DHL, Bandrowczak was chief operating officer at Seal Consulting Group, and before that, CIO at Avnet, an electronics distributor.

Since acquiring IBM's PC business earlier this year, Lenovo said it has a presence in more than 5,000 retail outlets in China and an additional 70 stores in India opening up for business. The company employs 19,000 people worldwide including those at Lenovo's major research centers in Yamato, Japan; Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen, China; and Raleigh, North Carolina.
