Linux has sprung into a Net-based software phenomenon, with a 212-percent growth rate that outpaces Windows NT, NetWare, and Unix. And with a new software maker pledging Linux support every week, analysts say the free operating system source code is becoming a legitimate competitor to Windows NT.
