Kingston to supply parts for DDR memory

Kingston Technology will develop chip parts for Nanya Technology, Taiwan's fourth-largest maker of computer memory chips, in an arrangement that should help Nanya's faster semiconductors gain acceptance sooner. Fountain Valley, Calif.-based Kingston will mass produce a component that connects Nanya's memory chips with the main circuit board in a computer, Nanya said in a statement.

Nanya is Taiwan's first chipmaker to start volume production of the so-called double data rate memory, or DDR, chips that run at double the speed of current chips. The new offerings are a cheaper alternative to a standard developed by chip designer Rambus.
