The trump card - National Security
When the people in charge of protecting our freedoms can't do so without underminging and trampling on those freedoms, it's time to find someone who can...

In that case...
We better start building Zion before the machines take over ;)

But yeah, totally agree with you. Up until recently I considered Bush the lesser of the two evils between him and Kerry... Now I am thinking Kerry couldn't have done any worse. I still think Liberterian is the way to go, Reps/Dems are so weighted down with lobbies and silly little agendas, no real useful stuff seems to come out of Washington these days.

Tired of bush and his cronies
I'm really tired of Bush and his cronies using the "for the sake of national security" you cant continue your investigation into all the illegal things we do card! The war on terrorisim is the biggest crock. If there was a war, we lost the second Bush got the patriot act passed, and we lose more every day we let him and our government micro manage and intrude on our personal lives and liberties. If they ever catch Bin Laden, Bush should be on trial with him For treason and crimes against America. Thanks for letting me vent...I'll wait for the NSA to track down my calls.

I sooo agree with you!
It seems to me it is just fine and dandy for Bush and his administration to blatently step on our constitutional rights and walk around the law as they please in the name of security. Hogwash! Dictatorship is what it looks like to me. Not only did he disreguard the law by not getting supoena for his wiretapping, he had three days after the fact to obtain the supeonas and still be within the law. Law that we the people decide on, and which every president is supposed to follow. He is not above the law. He is NOT the decider as he has said. Why are still putting up with his lies, the corruption in govt. and the deceit from congress. One thing is for sure....we need a change. Even the honorable FISA judge stepped down in protest of Bush stepping around the law. This should tell people something. I really hope arlen specter gets him! He is not a president. He is a dictator who goes looking for war to obtain power over people he has no right to. Totally against what this country stands for! Impeach him.

Just goes to show
that as it has been since the beginning of time. The most succesfull criminals are those who can either buy the law or make the law and mold it to their needs.

Sadly
Sadly, when Alberto Gonzales, was sworn into office, simple stated he would defend under oath in public, not only the constitution, but all the existing Federal Laws as created by both houses of congress and signed into power by all past President's, Geneva Convention inclusive, with no if's but's or maybe's!

Bush's insane war against alleged terrrorism, is rapidly out ranking President Nixon's grand but absolute failure of the war on Illicit Drugs, by making drug taking a felony offence and filling the prisons across the nation! The Pharmacy Industry super profits from that day forward, has much to thank Richard M. for that move! For Richard needed a catchy diversion, from his many underhanded questionable moves like creating the conditions for insane mass murderer like Pol Pot to assume absolute control in Cambodia, and carpet bombing North Vietnam to the Paris Peace talks on the false premise of Multi Billion dollar post war aid that never came! We all, fell for that one hook line and sinker, but sadly since then, the illicit drug dependence problem has continued to expand, and making it a criminal felony has about as much logic as calling an alcoholic a teetotaller!

Now the Bush fellow conspirators seek to end democracy as we know, turn back time, seek to become the new autocratic leaders like the Tsars of Russia(as any mad and insane luster of power must be) create an illusion of permanent fear, allowing a government to recreate a more modern version of the Cheka/NKVD/KGB/GRU/STASI? to rule over us with an iron fist like that which happened to Jose Padilla in 2002 long before Abu Ghraib, Bagram Air Base and Guantanamo Bay scandals broke(the abuse of his basic rights, gives one a foretaste as to what is to come!).

History tells us, that after many years of absolute citizen abuse, ultimately all Police States and dictatorships, fail and disintegrate from within as the ever present fear evapourates and is replaced by other more urgent requirements over time!

This is just another one of Alberto's continued failure to respect and honour all laws as he empowered to due under the Constitution!

The time has come for impeachment, before the rot has set too deep, if not the only trip is a one way down to a hell of an evil corrupt police state!

This may also explain's Alberto's recent inept clumsy declaration of war on the 'internet child porn', to divert one's attention like the old sleight of hand master Richard M.

"National security" and executive power grab...
... a match made in heaven?

Gonzales, Cheney and Rove must have creamed their pants when
9/11 happened.

Not a day goes by...
when I am yet again appalled by how much our liberties and our right to privacy has gotten and is getting trampled by the current administration (not to mention everything else from the environment to medical services to pensions).

I can't think of a time when I have been more depressed and worried about the future in which my child will live. If our government's trend towards rights reduction continues, it will be a very sad place indeed.
