Job site Indeed.com gets $5 million investment

Job-search site Indeed has received $5 million in funding from The New York Times Co., Union Square Ventures and Allen & Company, Indeed said Monday.

Indeed was founded in 2004 by Paul Forster and Rony Kahan, who previously had founded Jobsinthemoney, a leading job site for finance professionals that was acquired in 2003 by Financial News. Indeed searches millions of job listings from more than a thousand Web sites, including job boards, newspapers and professional associations, adding about 110,000 new jobs per day, the company said.

what happens
what happens to this business model when the major job search

Mature the model
Can we assume, these days, that an investment of $5mm in a service so seemingly fragile is made on the premise of building something more substantial?

Indeed basically grew on the backs or many job boards that fed them jobs to grow and now they are kicking job sites off left and right. Very disgraceful. They are no longer a job aggregator, but a regular old job site. They collect resumes now and they actively advertise for new job postings. No job site should be doing business with them anymore or sending them a feed. They are your competitor. You don't help your competitor. You compete.
