Jamcracker signs up GRIC for software

Web-based services start-up Jamcracker announced a software deal on Monday with struggling wireless network operator GRIC Communications. Under the pact, GRIC will use Jamcracker's Enterprise software so that GRIC customers can access a wider variety of software delivered through Jamcracker's technology.

Jamcracker has developed technology that lets a network operator serve as an application service provider (ASP), or software aggregator. Using Jamcracker's software, a service provider can access a wide variety of software applications over the Web or through a corporate network. Software such as PeopleSoft human resources applications can be accessed and used for a fee using Jamcracker's technology, for example. GRIC announced plans to slash its work force by 10 percent last week.
