Itanium start-up signs server software deal

Zeus Technology plans to make one of its server software packages available for Secure64's special-purpose server software for Intel's Itanium processor. Zeus Extensible Traffic Manager, which can balance Web server traffic loads among numerous for customers running large or encrypted Web sites, will be available for Secure64's software by early 2006, the companies said Tuesday.

Secure64 is building special-purpose software designed to take full advantage of Itanium security and performance features. Its chief technology officer is Bill Worley, who helped design Itanium in its early days at Hewlett-Packard.
