Indian IT firm buys U.S. consultancy

India-based software services company Patni Computer Systems will announce next week its acquisition of a U.S. information technology consulting firm that specializes in financial services. The move is part of a broader trend in which Indian companies snagging are more and more IT work and even snapping up U.S. companies.

In late April, India-based IT services company Wipro said it would buy NerveWire, a Newton, Mass.-based business and IT consulting company serving financial services clients.

A Patni representative on Friday confirmed the acquisition announcement, but declined to name the company involved in the deal.
