Floating lab to monitor oceans

The planned SeaOrbiter, shown here in a computer-generated image, is intended to be a research lab that will observe ocean life and the interaction between ocean and atmosphere. It will be driven by currents and have a life expectancy of 15 years, according to its backers.

    It is a beautiful and practical design. But perhaps suggesting
    some military use might get them built faster, and in larger
    numbers. Call it a stealth missle carrier platform with added
    scientists "to fool curious locals."

    It looks....
    kind of like the structures on Kamino from Star Wars II: Attack of the Clones.

    I love space and sea exploration, and I wish that more capital and energy would go toward them.

    This is beautiful, efficient, and non-intrusive to the environment.

    I say full steam ahead.

    I totally for this little adventure, and wish there was a way I could
    apply for the web department onBoard. - Water has got to be my
    second nature, But like alot of folks these days, we do what we do
    to get by.. But the idea sounds great.

    I hear that!
    Upon thinking about it, though, I've come up with some questions.
    ::How are supplies handled/delivered?
    ::How about rough seas? The sky isn't always that blue, you know?
    ::Is the upper deck submersible?

    I think there are some basic engineering design issues they will have to clear up, but all in all it's a fantastic idea.

    Beautiful as sculpture, and apparently stable, but will it be any more useful than Woods Hole's "flip-ship" ?
